Lydia comes from the municipality of Chongqing, located in the central part of China as you’ll see in the picture at the bottom of this page. There are only four municipalities in China, which are basically large cities, and they do not belong to a province. It is the only one not located on the east coast. The other three municipalities are Shanghai, Beijing, and Tianjin.
The region is subtropical and mountainous and very beautiful.
Ironically enough we traveled through Chongqing during the winter of 1995. We were only there 1 day as we waited for a boat to travel up the Yangtze River to see the famous “Three Gorges”.
